Dr Rodolfo Romero

Dr Rodolfo Romero - Tuberculosis and Lung Health

Dr Rodolfo Romero has worked in both clinical and programmatic tuberculosis (TB), TB-HIV and related fields and overall health services management for over 22 years in South Africa. He believes in the holistic patient centred approach as one of the main strategic points to succeed towards End TB Strategy by WHO. He is passionate about operational research, networking and capacity building of health professionals. He has served as faculty member in Union courses, including the International TB Course in Myanmar and South Africa. He had co-authored one of the largest study on Bedaquiline containing Regimen: Effectiveness and safety of bedaquiline-containing regimens in the treatment of MDR- and XDR-TB: a multicentre study. Currently a consultant for the ERS and WHO in Tuberculosis.
