Dr Ignacio Monedero

Dr Ignacio Monedero - Tuberculosis and Lung Health

Dr Ignacio Monedero is a medical doctor specialised in family and community medicine, with more than 13 years of clinical practice. Since the early years of university, he has been involved in NGO projects in developing countries, especially in tropical and infectious diseases. After ending his specialisation, he spent 2 years working at the National TB and HIV Programme of Ecuatorial Guinee. He joined the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where he took over a masters course in public health in developing countries.

In 2008, he was contracted by the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease as a consultant for the MDR-TB Department. Since then, he has been working in more than 35 countries providing technical assistance, MDR and TB-HIV trainings and supporting operational research projects. He has been involved in the writing of several Union guidelines, including TB-HIV and MDR-TB, in addition to different MDR-TB papers. In June 2013, he finished his PhD based in management of MDR-TB in developing countries with a final qualification of cum laude.
