Dr Nunurai Ruswa

Dr Nunurai Ruswa - Tuberculosis and Lung Health

Dr Nunurai Ruswa is physician who has been working in high TB and HIV burden settings for the past 16 years. Having been responsible for establishing the first ART clinics in Matabeleland North province in Zimbabwe and participating in the first roll-out of the integrated management of adult and adolescent illness (IMAI), he moved to Namibia to become the country’s first regional medical officer for TB & HIV in 2007. During this time, he developed an interest in drug resistant TB, managing the largest centre in the country for treating drug-resistant TB at the time, then moving to the capital (Windhoek) at the referral TB unit and later heading the drug-resistant TB programme in Namibia. He has worked for the KNCV Tuberculosis foundation focusing on the clinical and programmatic management of drug resistant TB. Dr Ruswa has also served as a consultant for the World Health Organisation and The Union on the programmatic management of drug resistant TB and TB/HIV.
